Using Storage to Maximize the Business Benefits of Virtualization
Companies of all sizes are rapidly embracing
server virtualization to reduce management of
server sprawl, cut administrative chores, and save
money. Used in conjunction with new high-performance
servers, particularly those based on
multi-core processors, virtualization allows dozens
of applications to run as virtual machines on a
single physical server, thus making much more
efficient use of computing resources.
As this new infrastructure becomes more
common, another element must be taken into account. Namely, how does a company match
its storage infrastructure to its application server environments to maximize the benefits
of virtualization?
In particular, the rapid adoption of and migration
to a virtual server environment requires that
storage be flexible and capable of being dynamically
grown to meet the capacity and performance
requirements of the virtualized applications.
Additionally, since multiple virtual servers will all
be accessing storage simultaneously, the storage
system must perform under multiple concurrent
workloads without degradation. And since virtualized
applications can be quickly and easily set up
and torn down, the associated storage must support
rapid, easy, dynamic provisioning.
HP/LeftHand Networks’ SAN storage systems offers fully integrated iSCSI SANs at an affordable price point that meet the requirements of today’s virtual server infrastructures. Reduce IT Operating Costs with IT Staffing
With corporate layoffs and downsizing taking center stage in the news, what is really happening with IT projects in this economy? Many surveys have been conducted as to the reason for IT staff reductions; the diminished need for IT is not among the responses. Though the hiring is decreasing, the need remains the same. In hard economic times, more companies look to contract or temp-to-hire staff.
Companies are looking for flexibility and greater access to talent, these being the major benefits that we can offer our clients. Unlike the recession of 2000-2001, employment rates for IT positions remains lower than other occupations. The smaller pool of qualified candidates coupled with less graduates in IT fields, leads many companies to utilize staffing services to fill their current needs.
|
 |
In today’s competitive employment market your ability to recruit top talent can impact your bottom line. Finding the right candidates with the skill set is time consuming and expensive. At CPR, A Division of Corporate Technologies, we are your Fast Track to IT Staff providing you with qualified candidates in a timely manner. So you can focus your time and energy on building your business with the confidence that you will have the resources at your fingertips to meet your customer’s needs.

iGuard: Bringing a Human Element to Web Content Filtering
The superior accuracy of human review over other methods of URL classification has given iGuard a well-deserved reputation for delivering fewer false positives and false negatives than any other Web filtering solution on the market. Once a site has been categorized by an iGuard Analyst, it is added to the iGuard database and automatically downloaded to iPrism Web Filtering appliances globally on a daily basis. Sites that contain security threats are updated hourly.
|
| The methodology for URL classification used by most solutions is a blended technology, employing both human-review and content-based technology. While a blended technology offers accuracy that is better than content-based classification alone, it still cannot measure up to the results experienced with a 100% human-reviewed system. iGuard allows companies to avoid both over blocking URLs, which can compromise productivity and generate a high volume of help desk requests, and under blocking users which can turn Internet access into a liability. |

Online
Backup Solutions
The success of your business could be determined by how successfully you
can recover from a server failure resulting in critical data loss. Many
companies simply trust that their backups are running smoothly, only to
find that mission-critical data may not be recoverable. In addition, many
companies are treating all data the same, instead of prioritizing which
data would need to be restored most quickly after a failure.
In
response to these needs, CPR offers Protect – an online backup service that allows customers to back up, recover
and protect their critical data. An agentless online backup and restore
solution for distributed environments, Protect safeguards all your mission critical information whether the data is on
laptops, desktops or servers. |
 |
If
you are struggling with the “operational headaches” that come
along with backups, data loss, long downtime during restores, and if you
must deal with security and compliance issues, then CPR’s Protect service can help address your concerns. |
Locally
stored and fully encrypted in CPR’s Data Center, Protect is designed to fully automate the backup/recovery process, while ensuring
the security of your data.
If
you are interested in learning more about the benefits of Online Backup, join us for an informative webinar on Tuesday, March 10. |
