New PCs with Windows XP downgrade now a thing of the past If you still need Windows XP, Microsoft will offer downgrade media kits, but all systems will come with Windows 7 as the standard OS. Per Microsoft, downgrade media kits will be available through July 31, 2011. To obtain a Windows XP downgrade media kit, you will need to work with the manufacturer of the model you purchased. For HP desktops and laptops, you can call 1-800-952-7689 within 30 days of purchase to request a media kit. |
